Help Johnson’s Baby Cares Give Back | Save The Children
Mother’s Day 2012
This Mother’s Day was not the best one I have had since I became a mother in 1997. I have fibromyalgia which has been flaring really bad because of our financial issues due the economy, trying to find a house and just day to day life – stress is really bad for fibro sufferers. My son was in Sectionals for track which is about a 6-7 hours day of sitting in hard bleachers the Saturday before Mother’s Day and it all just came to a head that Sunday. I was in bed the entire day but fortunately for me my husband and children understand and took care of me, which is more than I can ask for. I got cards and my husband drove 25 minutes to get me my favorite meal from Outback Steakhouse.
I am fortunate because despite a lot of difficulties we are dealing with right now at least we have a roof over our heads- albeit my parents for the moment, a way to feed our kids and the ability to be pampered every once in a while. I can stop everything, cuddle on the couch with my kids and watch a movie. I never, ever take that for granted. I know how lucky I am to even have the simple things. Not a lot of mother’s have that. Their day consists on how to find water for their children to drink or trying to figure out how they are going to find their next meal. I try my hardest to help as much as I can when I see a family or mother struggling. Whether it’s handing some one a coupon for something I wasn’t going to use, donating my time or contributing to charities I know will benefit mother’s and children, I do it. It’s important as mothers to support each other. We are all in this together. Rich or poor. Our kids are our main priority and our primary goal is to create a safe happy environment for them to grow up.
We have been using Johnson’s Baby Care products for as far back as I remember. All of my kids have varying degrees of dermatitis and Johnson’s is basically the only product we like the smell of and works well. I have a 14 year old, 12 year old and 5 year old and they all still use Johnson’s. Best sensitive products in the world. So when I heard that Johnson’s Baby Cares was partnering with Save the Children it just sweetened the deal. It’s one of my favorite charities and does life changing work. Save the Children is a fantastic program that deals with the under-served and forgotten children. They work in over 120 countries, including the US. They provide completely simple things we take for granted like books, healthy foods, blankets…places to play and exercise. They also give these kids essential things like knowing if there will be food on the table at all, a safe place to sleep, or just comfort and hope. It helps the children see past the trials of poverty and see the future. In the 2011-12 school year Save the Children helped over 141,000 families, caregivers and children in the US alone with programs like Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Physical Education, Nutrition and Emergency Response. Phenomenal.
Johnson’s Baby Cares contribution has been donating baby “Care Kits”. Johnson’s Baby Cares is donating Baby “Care Kits” stocked with baby essentials (lotions, washes, shampoos, diaper creams, etc) to Save the Children who will distribute them to families in disaster stricken situations.
Their mission statement on their FaceBook Page: To assist families, the makers of JOHNSON’S® Baby products, alongside parent company Johnson & Johnson, are making a multi-year, multi-million dollar contribution to Save the Children that will help create and sustain key initiatives. In 2012 we will donate and distribute thousands of JOHNSON’S® Baby “Care Kits”. The “care Kits” help by providing families with baby care essentials immediately after a disaster. This commitment is an extension of our existing product donation efforts aimed to meet baby care needs in the U.S. and around the world. Provide funding that enables Save the Children programming, such as Child Friendly Spaces, which supplies moms and children with safe areas to recover, play and experience the joy of being together as a family following a disaster.
Johnson’s will donate an additional $50,000 to Save the Children when they achieve 500,000 views on their “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom — You’re Doing OK” video (http://www.youtube.com/Baby).
